I dropped a couple of wheels off at my mechanic to get a dent banged out of each one of them (ahhh the joys of driving Chicago's streets). Anyway, he asked me which wheels they were, because he was concerned as to how to mount them. Something involving the runflat sensors? I took all four off my Cooper (they are the R90s w/ Pirelli Euforias) and now I want to put them on my S until winter when I'll throw the tires in the lake.

My question: is there any info that a mechanic needs to know that would be "special" for the runflats and/or the Cooper S in general? Incidentally, this is Nortown Auto in Chicago, an install crew recommended by Tire Rack.

Thanks for any quick help you can give. I'll probably be getting them put on tomorrow!!!

make sure he has the right machine to break the bead on the run flats. If he does not he will end up hurting the wheels. A Firestone or Goodyear, store that stocks runflats will have the right machine. There are no sensors in the wheel like Chevy uses in the Vette.

Try sending an email to Alex@tirerack.com since that shop was recommended by them.

No sensors are used, just ABS counter. Any EMT certified installer can take care of this, wich Nortown is.
