I talked with a tech at Hendrick Mini yesterday about this issue and was told the calipers are essentially JCWs but the carrier is larger on the R56, ie., the bolt spacing is wider at the spindle.

I spoke with the parts specialist and he said the rotors are the same but the pads are different for the R56 and the JCWs. I ordered the new R56 rotors and the JCW pads.

So how did everyone make out with thier conversions? I am reseraching installing the R56 front brakes on my 2005 R53. Originally I was investigating a JCW kit until I starting reading about the R56 idea. Much less expensive (used calipers).

thoughts/ideas/warnings?

Thanks!

Wow...three year old thread!

Today this is the root of the TCE/Wilwood "caliper kit" in suggesting that those on a budget may wish to consider the larger JCW R56 rotors combined with the DP6 calipers. Granted the caliper kit alone is not cheap but the good thing is that combined the set up will clear all the stock wheels whereas the full blown kits will not.
