Big Brake Kit Decision

I've been studying and searching BBK's for the past week and i just keep getting more and more confused. I have a set of 18" R1 Racing Victory's and its about time for a brake upgrade. I've been looking at the Wilwood Kit and the Detroit Tuned Kit. I want to try and fit the 12.2" rotors but im not sure they'll fit. When i checked my offset it said 40+.. I guess im just asking for a little help if i'll be able to fit the brakes with my wheels and which kit is better (if i get the wilwood's should i get the SRP rotors..)

thanks, tyler

I too was looking at both Wildwood and Detroit Tuned. I'm going with Detroit Tuned based upon input from several of our MINI Gang. IMO both are good choices, just personal preference made my decision.

A 18" wheel is capable of fitting up to my full 14" rotor kit. The deciding factor however (other the cost) is body overhang. Both the DT and factory Wilwood kits offer low clearance for low clearance fit behind the spoke. The larger TCE kits may or may not allow this depending upon the amount of space your spoke design offers.

You cannot rely on a simple visual of the stock rotor/caliper relationship to the spoke however as the caliper body in the BBK is different and the location of the rotor (center line) is also likely to be very different. For the most part a customer should plan to pull a wheel and check the "pocket" space for fit.

Stage III Front Kit- $3079 (Requires 20" or larger wheels)
Need something a bit larger? TCE offers the largest Lightning/Harley kit in the business. We take our monsterous 16" rotors and pair them with the all new Wilwood TC 6 Radial mount caliper. This huge caliper offers nearly double the pad size of the Stage I kit and over 13" of caliper body to give you not only superior performance but stunning looks as well. Available in the common Black anodized finish or the optional Red powder coat there's something for everyone. Can you handle big?

Just depends on how you look at it...LOL!

Very true. And as many know, the rear hats used can be matched to the front for the same basic style. Drill and slot patterns will be slightly different however.

Rear Plus 2 Rear Kit: 11.75" kit above with Parking Brake Caliper. $1195
Move on up to some big calipers to match the front FSL or DP model parts! This new kit comes with Wilwoods own parking brake caliper and retains the stock cables for easy installation.
  • Wilwood Parking Brake Calipers
  • Radial mount brackets
  • BP10 pads
  • Alum rotor hats (choice of TCE or Wilwood design)
  • 11.75 x .375" rotor
  • Gas slotted, zinc plated
  • SS hoses
  • Cable mounts, clips and hardware
  • Drilled and slotted rotor finish- Add $135
  • RED powder coat finish- Add $30

No problems Chris.

I offer both the stock caliper over two piece rotor kit, or that product with the shown Wilwood calipers. And you can do them one at a time being modular in fit.

Oh, you don't want the Wilwood name on it? No sweat, we mill down the outer portion and powder coat it to your spec color. You want a Brembo logo on it? We can do a vinyl decal pretty easily or we can mill it for you if you want to really do it up.

Could look like this: http://s122.photobucket.com/albums/o...nt=Psycho1.jpg

TCE is the brake company for me- I like two piece rotors that are light and save weight, not to mention changing the rotor itself rather than the whole setup everytime you need to change brakes. One piece=thumbsdown.
