Who's using 225/50/16 Track Tires

I have 205/45/16 Kumho's and been thinking of going to 225/50/16's for track days. Any one using these on 7in. wide rims. Need some advice please and what brand are you using. 06 S

Thanks in advance.

i'd like to know this too... ive been looking to increase tire width a bit more

just a word though... currently i run a set of hankook z214 205/50-16, 37mm offset in the front and although i cannot be sure because it never happens consistently... i might be rubbing the inside suspension a tenny bit during hard braking, could be somethin else but i hear a rhymic noise up front...

i might slap the 5mm spacer in the front to see if there's more room to fit a set of 225s

I'm looking at a closeout price of $110.00 for z211's and would like to jump on them for the price. Using 16x7 SSR with 42 offset and 205/45/16 Kumho.
Thanks for the feedback.

The biggest problem with 225/50-16's on a MINI is they are .50-1.00 inches (depending on brand/model) taller than the stock 195/55-16 size. Most folks seem to want a smaller-than-stock diameter tire for track use.

With the 06 I have and the gearing, the 205/45/16 I'm using now light up without a problem. I'm leaning towards more grip coming out of low speed turns. Thanks for the info.
