Question about Koni Yellow's and stock springs
 

Well here's my delimna. I am sitting way low to the ground with my stock suspsension setup and don't want to go any lower. I have the Koni Yellow adjustable struts and want to put them on but is it worth just putting them on with the stock springs? Is there a good spring out there that will not drop the height of the vehicle at all? (my bumper has taken too much abuse already... not bad, but I don't want it to get bad... I cringe when I hear the slightest scrape...).

one of my Friends has a set of Koni Yellows and stock springs on his MCS and it is not low at all. The car rides and handles incredibly well.

I have the same general question plus a specific question about how stiff to set the struts if I do stick with the stock springs. I have used Koni yellows already - just a question now of whether to get stiffer and shorter springs or stick with stock.

By the way, my only motivation for keeping the stock springs rather than going stiffer is that I don't want to drop ride height. If I do get stiffer springs, they will almost definitely be the TSWs.

I'm figuring that the Konis on a stiffer setting are going to reduce initial body roll. That "feels" sportier, but is it really helping the net handling? Clearly underdamping is going to lead to bouncing - bad. What is the penalty for overdamping - spring not strong enough to push the tire onto the road when the road "falls away", e.g. after a rise?

So my fundamental question is whether the Konis are going to make an appreciable difference over stock when used with stock springs, and if so, how stiff to set the Konis.

You just answered your own question.:) If the tyre is too slow to follow the path of the ground, then the tyre has a lesser contact patch and won't provide enough friction. So you'll have less grip and control....
