Lowered with H-Sport springs ... do I need camber adjustment?

I just installed H-Sport spring set and rear sway bar on my '06 MCS. Definitely a very worthwhile upgrade. Ride and performance is superb Now that car is lowered by 1", there is more aggressive negative camber in the rear. Do I need to readjust camber back to OE spec or can I leave it as is?

Other than more inside tire wear I cannot think of any other negative issues with the more aggresive camber. Am I overlooking something else?

Finally is '06 MCS's rear camber adjustable?

Some folks suggest that you decrease the negative camber (by "decrease" I mean have the rear camber approach zero) in the rear in order to reduce the tendency to understeer (by reducing the cornering grip at the rear).

That said, I've got an H-Sport Competition rear sway bar... set to the stiffest setting, even with the full negative rear camber (I also have H-sport lowering springs), my car rotates readily (when I autocross it)...

One advantage to keeping the negative rear camber is that you can probably fit some wider tires in there, and you may also like the look.

I think it's best to go by your own needs...

OK, (where's my soap box...? he said, looking around) this is my take, having HSport springs with HSport rear sway bar, that gave me -2.1deg camber on ther rear and -.6 on the front (1" lowering from springs affects rears much more than fronts) I really didn't like the look of the rear, especially compared to the fronts being so upright by comparison. Looked like my car took a doggy dump and forgot to stand up...
Anyway, recently I put in camber plates and rear control arms (yes the '05 and '06 lower links are adjustable, but not by a lot, and because the rear suspension is a 3-point system, you need to adjust 2 points to get both toe and camber where you want them. -- yes you can adjust the trailing arm bolts, but it's easier with adjustable control arms.) Let me just say that the handling of the car improved dramatically! I was suffering quite a bit of understeer under acceleration, but now the front sticks like glue, and the back just follows along. (I have -1.9deg up front and -1.3deg in rear, with a little toe out in front and little toe in at the rear.)
But, I'm sure Kenchan will post to the contrary...
good luck

Phil, why don't you just come out and admit that you're an addict just like me, looking for any excuse to buy more mods!

I, too, have just installed the camber plates (Helix-RDR) and both upper and lower rear control arms (also Helix). And, for my taste, that's better than just doing the springs and sway bar. You get some overall weight savings, and more flexibility in your alignment settings.

mininutz: oh, I'm out of the closet, it's just that I'm starting to sound a bit evangelical these days! I want to keep an air of objectivity in my posts, or get a reputation for just espousing my own mods over others. I have to admit that the lowering springs and sway bar didn't really impress me all that much until I did the plates and links, but now they seem to have come alive! (!) The car just seems more balanced, flatter through corners and I can get on the accelerator earlier coming out of a corner without fear that I'll step, or move out, as was the case before. It's a big investment, especially compared to coil overs, (although the Megans come with camber plates), but seems more incremental and hence, for me, achievable. I will eventually have to get new struts, but for now, I'm lovin' the car...

cheers,

Great info. Thanks guys. However assuming that lowering springs and rear sway bar is all I'm gonna do AND knowing that '06 MCS deos offer slight rear camber adjustment (not much though), what would you guys suggest that I do to further improve the setup?

nope. i don't need to convince people. im not here for that. i take
my experience over the years modding my cars, my buddies cars and
came to the conclusion that i don't need camber correction on the
MCS when running H-sports and a 22mm swaybar in the stiff setting.

there are other cars that ive modded that needed such accessories,
but not all cars need it especially not the MCS for street.

that's all. you do wat you want to do on your car. it's your car,
your money, you enjoy it how you want to.

but posts like this always makes me wonder if the guy just went
for cosmetics and had nothing in mind about the actual sus geometry
or setting. over and out.
