Rear Sway Bar Install

Backyard Mechanics/DIYers, I looked up the steps in the manual, did you really need to drop the exhaust and rear subframe to install a new rear sway?

On my 2019 F56 I didn't need to drop the exhaust at all. There is one bolt on a heat shield that needed removed so the heat shield would move when you loosen the rear sub frame. The four bolts that hold the sub frame are easy to get to and the things sags down a few inches on its own giving you the clearance to pull the bar. Use your own judgement since I'm not an expert, but I just did it.

You don't "DROP" the subframe.

I don't drop the exhaust. But I do take both rear shocks loose, then take the springs out. After that I pull the subframe bolts and pry it down to get the sway bar bracket bolts and pull it out.

Here is our bar we use for installs.

I don't put collars on any of our sway bars. We do have built in stops on our bar.
