Koni FSD's and IE fixed camber plates
So I have 15k miles on my FSD's and front fixed camber plates. I have had a few alignments to get to where I wanted. The creaking and light fluttering noise over driveway and speed bumps is driving me nuts. Everything has been replaced with new and checked multiple times. I am running 16" stock wheels and this should be a no brainer! I have read the other threads on this issue about sway bar links,tranny mounts etc. On the highway and any speed over 15 MPH everything is quiet and handles great. The morning work commute has me convinced that the noise is annoying, but not unsafe. I would like a quiet ride though.
Take them out and start over? The vendor I bought them from refuses any knowledge or assistance. I am all ears to your experiences to solve............Thx |
Sway bar links are tough to get tight. Do you have a bentley manual, or the proper torque values? I was suprised how much the cinch bolt tightened when taking it to torque (tighten the bolt, not the nut. the nut has serrations on the underside).
I also just installed shocks and IE fixed camber plates. I have a low speed noise in the left front (with the window down). I figure when I rotate the wheels in a couple weeks I'll check everything again. Sorry I don't have a definate solution. Have fun, Mike |
There have been peeps that commented that the IE plates can be slightly different left and right - and to check them. It the weight shift when on speed bumps,driveways etc that you can hear the flutter and click. Once driving the car is much improved over stock. Stable and predictable even with runflats still installed.

I'm on my 3rd set of IE fixed plates, and I haven't seen any markings indicating left or right. They seem symmetrical to me, or else it would affect the caster of the vehicle. I could be wrong....

I called Jeff at IE to discuss and was told that the plates are different for each side. He doesn't mark them. I recall him also saying that the bushing part of the design is from a BMW Z3. He said any trouble with the plates would come from that bushing. Hard to inspect when installed, probably best for me to just uninstall everything to measure and clean.

Kinda crappy if they aren't marked, and there is no indication anywhere to look for differences. Let me know what you find out. It would be interesting to see if they are able to be checked on the car.
Interesting that the bearing is from a Z3. I wonder what is different? Good info. Mike |
