H&R or KW's?????
 

i am wondering what coil overs would be better on the mini, the h&r or the kw v1. dont need dampering adjustment, doesnt anyone have any experience with either??

I just put on the H&R coilovers. Still too early to say anything but HOOOAH!!

I know that you don't want dampening, but for about 400 bucks more ($1650)you can get a coilover system (Bilstein PSS9) that is said to last the lifetime of the car! Peformance is said to be exceptional, and according to some, LEDA-like. The LEDAs have more adjustments (I think 24 vs 9), and are easier to adjust as well though. No, I don't have them, but I'm close to pulling the trigger...

I'm leaning toward the Bilsteins myself. They tend to have a high-quality, bulletproof product and a great reputation & warranty.

Who has the PSS9s for 1650$? Do you have a website or contact for that?


I thought Mini Mania offers them for 2695$ and for that price I will take the LEDA setup.

I apologize for taking this thread of course a bit. Let me provide a couple links that will reveal sources to get them at 1,850 (2 places I believe), and another one for 1,650. One of the guys is getting his sometime later this week. I'm waiting to see how everything goes. I've waited this long, I don't mind one more week. There were fitment issues when these first came to mkt a while ago, and I believe have been resolved...

I was told that they were supposed to be priced in the $1,200-1,500 range, so I'm disappointed to see them being marked up as much as they are by all these vendors. I can understand a fair & reasonable price, but $2,695 is simply ridiculous and as consumers we shouldn't put up with it. :mad:

For the 1650$ I will take the PSS9 over the Leda setup.

I do not think it is too off topic.....since KW and H&R are also coilover setups.
Now the PSS9s are in the same price range as the Variant 2 KWs.

Well, while they might be in the same range as the KW v2's, the fella starting this thread mentioned version 1, as well as the H&Rs, both in the 1,200 price range. Thus the OT concerns... When I start pricing things over 1k, a few hundred bucks is not going to keep me from what I desire more, but that's not true of everyone. If someone does get them, please share by posting a new thread. I really want to hear about everything from the ordering, shipping time, install, impressions, ease of adjustability, and anything else...

h&r and accually bilsteins , there a h&r springs with a bilsteins strut both the cup kit and the coil over. dont i dont like h&r cause i do, i think there one the best companies out there right now for suspension. but there also a little on the soft side for me, i had them on my 98 gti and there were awesome, but h&r also have a happen to get problems with rusting on the treads on the strut. and i would like to try kw, heard there awesome. madness is running them on there mini and so is mini mania. the leda is crazy expensive like 2400 bucks, bilstiens arent 2400 bucks i can tell you that, 1400 more like it.

MGCMAN - your thoughts on the H&R coilovers? Or, if you prefer, you could define "HOOOAH!!"

HOOOAH = battle cry of the US Marines, when used in the MCS vernacular means, no body roll, harsh (you feel every imperfection in the road surface), tremendous turn in ability, handling characteristics are now neutral to oversteer rather than understeer, ride height lowered by approximately an inch and a half, with a wee bit more in the rear (the MINI's rake is gone, man).

I went for the adjustable Konis and the H&R Springs.....infinite adjustment on the shocks...... adjusting springs is just not done that often, even in race cars. I rarely if ever touch the perches on mine. Saved about 1K........
