lowered car tire size

I've searched all over this forum and have come up emtpy. Many others have posed this question but the posts turn into a discussion about the best brands, not the actual sizes.
I have a 2006 S and will be lowering it with Megan Racing coilovers. I am planning on lowering about 1 inch. I also need new tires but I do not know what size I can go with.
I believe the stock tire size is 205/45R17. I have read that a lot of people are running 215/45R17 on stock suspension. I want to go with that tire size as the tires are cheaper.
Can I run the 215/45R17 with the lowered car without rubbing? I have also read some people must have wheel spacers to avoid rubbing. If I use this size tire, will I have a problem?
Thanks in advance for the info

Depending on your wheel offset, you should have no problems with 215/45x17. Use this link to play with. Plow in the stock size and offset on the left side and what you want to use on the right side: http://www.rimsntires.com/specs.jsp

also depends on the tire, we just put michelin PS A/S 3 on and they has a rim protector rib and had to put 5mm spacers on the back. Stock wheels 06 JCW - but the same 215/45/17 worked fine on my 12 MCS jcw

if you're only dropping an inch you should have no issues. I could run them on my car but I went with 215/40/17's and i'm more then an inch down.
