Let us know how these turn out. I have been sceptical about these for the mini as well. I was on ebay a while back and found them, but did no know anything about the company other than it was German. I'll be waiting to see how you like them.

wow....I happened on these the other day by searching for some 2.5" springs. Good to know you're giving them a go :)

Vogtland is a spring manufacturer and not a coilover manufacturer.

Vogtland coilover shocks are made by Weitec, which is a KW subsidary.
If you go to the Weitec site you will see that everything is the same, except for the springs, which are of coz made by Vogtland themselves  .

This is a photo of the Weitec kit.

Look how similar (= the same  ) the brackets look and even the stickers are printed in the same style... Also the color of the shocks are the same.

further more....are you going to tell me that these 2 H&R kits are the same because the shock bodies look the same?

yes these shock bodies are the same ...
Both of these H&R (red springs vs green springs) use the same shock body, but the inverted shock damper within the shock has a different damping characteristic.

and here is a shot of the KW version

This is the old version of the KW (pre01/02, i forget the exact model year). KW changed their front spring design into a single large spring, like on your Vogtland pics and my Weitec pics. Do a search in this forum and you will see some pics of the new setup.

You're almost right

Weitec is owned by KW, and KW is making the Weitec coilover shocks, however, Weitec shocks are galvanized, whereas KW shocks are stainless steel.

Vogtland just makes springs and buys the coilover shocks from KW/Weitec.

H&R are totally different, different monotube shock design, whereas the Weitec, KW and Vogtland are twintubes.

There is at least one other big name who are buying coilover shocks from KW ... guess who

This is getting interesting. I am just curious to see how they preform.

I still don't get it why people think it is so important to know where and who makes the coilover bodies, as long as there is a professional company behind the products.

I have a lot of suspension industry knowledge (since i work with a few of the biggest coilover manufacturers), and just like in most other industries a lot of products are made by a few core manufacturers, but often in (slightly) different specifications.

It is very interesting to see that similar products using different brands/marketing can have totally different feedback, sometimes even by the same user ... PLACEBO EFFECT?
