Lowered my car last night H&R's

MarioKart and I lowered my MINI last night and installed a 19mm ALTA rear sway set on the middle setting. We did not finish until 1am, partly due to the fact that we did not start until late. Just got home from a Mini meet in Phoenix and a fun run up to Payson. The car handled great!

What do you think? The car rides much better, more like my old R53

Whoa!!! That looks HAWT!!! What size wheels you rockin?

xsmini Jun 30, 2007 04:53 PM

Looks great!!!

I was doing the same thing to mine last night. Finished alittle earlier though.

Thanks they are 18" with 215/40/18's with Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212.

rattmobbins Jun 30, 2007 05:42 PM

So since you say the car rides much better now, I'm assuming you did something about the bump stops, right? Mind sharing?

CHILE_RED Jun 30, 2007 05:43 PM

wow

mikeg4572 Jun 30, 2007 05:45 PM

I did cut the bumpstops. I cut about 2/3 of them off. I dont expect the stock shocks to last too long but it will be a good excuse to get new ones when they come out.

Looks sweet. Don't like the R56 for the most part, but this is one of the few I do. Love how clean it looks. My friend here in Charlotte (07ChiliRed) has a sweet one, as well...

I get my car this week and a set of the H&Rs and a rear sway(thanks Adam) are in the garage.

Nic and Mike, total time to install? Mike, looks great.

Cheers,
Mark

It took me 2-3 hours, but we had a little snag that was our fault. If I were to do it again it can be done in less than 2 hours. It definately helps to have 2 people especially when removing the sub frame for the rear sway install.

Thanks!

Looks great.

Mike,

Thanks for the additional pictures, that may be my winter project. Get it ready for next Spring's events. Do you get any tire rub with the 18s?

Keep us informed of the next set of mods.

Hey Mike. Looks great. Nice to be able to drop it that low and actually have a better ride then stock. I had thought about shortening my bumpstops, but they felt pretty soft, so I left them. No bottoming out to date . Had a four wheel alignment done Friday. Feels great . So, What's next ?

MarioKart Jul 2, 2007 01:38 PM

Who ever this MarioKart guy is sounds great! It was always fun hanging out with you, working on car and going to the clubs. You will have to come down to Malibu for the canyon runs and cool weather.
BTW, I bet your are so happy your Mini is not a 4x4 anymore.
Mario

mikeg4572 Jul 2, 2007 01:55 PM

Yeah, definately. I am down for Malibu very soon. Round up some people up there. I dont need much of an excuse to leave AZ in the Summer time!

Thanks again for the help!

Keep me updated with your mods!

Mini Tyler Jul 12, 2007 04:51 PM

looks great!

did you install the HR coilover kit or just the lowering springs? I had a terrible experience with the coilover kit as the HR springs provided were apparently meant for some guys Acura in the other neighborhood that wanted to be slammed....they were like 2 inches too short! Still waiting for some eibach sportlines to fix the problem.

anyways, sweet lookin ride!

mikeg4572 Jul 12, 2007 04:56 PM

Thanks they are H&R Lowering springs. Sorry to hear about your problem that sux!
