The clock lights up but doesn't display any numbers
Like the title says, the clock above the rearview mirror lights up, but doesn't display anything. I suspect this might have happened when the car was in for a power steering pump replacement, but I recently bought the car and I am not 100% sure it worked when I bought the car, so it might be totally random.
I tried searching around, but didn't find much help. |
It's a simple replacement/removal. I'd remove it, take it apart, and reseat the LCD screen in it. (Assuming you've checked all fuses, etc. Obviously, the clock has to get power to keep the time and such.)
|
I figured it had power since the background light works, is there a seperate fuse only for the clock?
I will probably have a go at reseating the lcd then, is it hard to take it apart? |
Here's something to consider, and easy to check. I have a 2005 MCS and my clock would read -- -- and my trip counter would read zero. Every so often there was a hesitation when I started and every thing reset. Turned out to be a loose battery cable. Make sure they are good and tight, and you may solve your problem.

I tried to take apart the clock yesterday, I tried to just pull the lid off, but I didn't want to use too much force. What is the best way to take it apart?
And I have another small off topic question, how do I take apart the key in order to switch ou the battery? |
Resurrecting an old thread. I have the same issue. How do I remove the clock from the headliner.
Thanks |
