Warranty vs Modifications

I was unable to find a thread that addressed this issue and I expect this has been discussed many times, so forgive me, but . . .

I am looking to add a Alto CAI, 15% pulley & H-Sport sway bar.

Do any of these modifications void or affect the warranty on my '04 MCS?

They all could void it depending on the dealer. But with that said the pulley is most likely to void a warranty.

I have heard the same thing that pulley would almost definately void the warranty but I would check with your MA/SA at your dealer and find out what they would consider mods to void warranty. Good luck and Happy Motoring!

Some dealers are more mod friendly than others. The CAI and H-Sport bar shouldn't be much of a warranty problem. Actually, neither should the 15% SC Pulley although some dealers see it as a warranty buster. See what your dearler has to say... get it in writing if possible.

In general, the dealer will only deny warranty coverage for problems that are caused by your modifications. So, if you install the pulley, intake and swaybar, and your radio later stops working, that would probably be covered.

But if you start getting noises from your rear suspension after installing the swaybar, you might have a hard time convincing the dealer that the swaybar isn't the culprit.

Yea!! what he said ---

It is up to the dealer - if you put on the pulley and a week later your supercharger freezes up - you are going to have pay for it - they will blame the pulley.
But if the failure is not related to any non-factory parts then you should be ok. Just be prepared to argue with the advisor and manager if you have to.

Good luck

You need to ask the service manager at your dealership before you start doing mods. Generally, if you're up front with them they will tell you what mods they are comfortable with. This is what I did and I've yet to have an issue.
