Roll Squeak. Roll Squeak.

Hi folks,

Our 2004 JCW has been making an annoying sound that I only hear while rolling slowly (especially in parking lots with other cars that echo the sound). It sounds like a tire rubbing against a shock or something. Kind of a wet rubbery squeak or moan mixed with a bit of grinding.

Clutch in or out doesn't matter. It either disappears as we go faster or other sounds get so loud I can't hear it any more.

I first thought it was brake rotor/disk related, but I've jacked up all four sides and can't replicate the noise when I spin the wheels. So it's only when there's load on the suspension, I guess.

Could it be the runflats? Stock tires, second set. Probably about 20K on them.

PS: This car has already gone through a wheel bearing. I can't remember which one, but I'm hoping it's not that or a CV joint. I figured I'd hear something, if it was, when I spun the wheels while it was jacked up.

Thanks for any thoughts!

ITs an 04 we're at the end of 06 I think its time to lobe the rear sway bar  Little grease on the two mounts should do the trick.

If you were in a damp enclosed parking garage with cold tires, I'd say it was probably just talking tires. Bit of grinding? I don't know. But I will say this; stop buying runflats & get some decent tires.

You do know there are decent run-flats out there as well as some crappy non-RFs right?
