Secret to re-attaching air intake snorkel
OK, what is it? There must be one. I'm trying to switch back to the stock air box for a PA state inspection, and I can't get that front snorkel piece to snap in place. It has 4 tabs, and the 2 on the left simply won't click in. I've squeezed with all my hand strength, wedged a piece of wood between the back of the snorkel and the SC intake and tapped the mating plastic piece with a hammer, and chewed up the plastic a bit trying to squeeze it with pliers. I've even greased the mating surfaces with some silicone lube. Others say they can re-install the stock air intake in ~15 min, and I've worked on this piece over an hour! What am I doing wrong??

those snorkels are sometimes a pain in the butt. sometimes they just click in and other times they fight you. however if you just putting the stock air box back on for emissions and your going to put the aftermarket back on as long as the snorkel is held in with 2 of 4 clips. that'll just make it that much easier to take back off. the snorkel won't go anywhere if it just has 2 clips holding it on.

Thanks. I have the HAI in place, and the crankcase vent on the right side is no longer hooked up to the main intake hose, it just has a breather filter on it. If they complain about it, I'll take your advice and hook the snorkel up half-way to pass inspection.
