Hard Time To Start Engine?

So my MCS isn't driven in daily but i got into the car tonight and turned the key and it took a couple good seconds for the car to start and then after it started my rpms were around 1400 until i started to drive and then it dropped. My question is, shouldn't my car start up right away especially because i have colder plugs and nology hot ignition wires? Also sometimes when i am at idle my rpms will started to get a little shaky and the exhaust will get a little louder? thanks for any help!

Ah, the infamous cold start! That's a common "characteristic" of the MINI. :sad:

I have found this to be pretty normal. I talked to a BMW specialist near-by and he said it was common in a lot of supercharged applications, especially 4 and 6 cylinder engines. I'm no pro on these german tuned engines, but the cold start and the high rpm's that follow are not a problem, that is just what the mini does.
