Power steering pump rebuild kit

Hi, folks. My power steering pump is leaking (not subject to any recall) and I would like to rebuild it while I have my subframe out. Does anyone know where a rebuild kit for a 2004 Cooper S can be found? My Interweb search is not turning up anything. Thanks.

Did you check if you qualify for the recall/warranty extension? https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ng-recall.html

As I understand it, the recall covers only 13 years forward and/or 130,000 miles, and only certain build months. I did go out to the MINI site and enter my VIN and my June '04 build is not covered. I just replaced the clutch and still have the subframe out with the pump attached. It doesn't appear that it's a hose issue so I was thinking it might be an o-ring on the pump itself. Hence my post about a rebuild kit. My next step is to drain the reservoir and hoses, then pull the pump from the subframe for inspection. I received extensive service records when I bought the car and they indicate that the pump was replaced in Jan. 2011. I will say that the pump (Bosch) looks brand new (after a wipe down) and certainly doesn't look 8 years old so it's possible it was replaced again and I just don't have that repair record. My MC40 has been off the road for approx. 3 weeks under repair and I'm anxious to get it back together but once apart I've run into a few other needed repairs (split CV boot, broken temp sensor) that I've also addressed. It's not my DD so time is less a factor. I just miss DRIVING it!

Ok, just checking, Good luck on the search and fixes, I know i have seen people take them apart and 'fix" the brushes on the inside. I dont remember the seals or if they even mentioned it.

hi Have you checked the hoses ? just how do you know the pump is leaking and not your hoses coming from the reservoir for example ...anyways if you know its your pump let me know what you find in terms of rebuilt kits and you can just ignore me lol

Both power steering hoses were replaced but my pump is still leaking. Since I had the subframe out already for a clutch replacement, I pulled the pump off, cleaned it up, tightened all the fittings and reinstalled. Unfortunately, that didn't solve the leaking issue either. I have not been able to find a rebuild kit. I did, however, find a company on eBay (https://www.ebay.com/itm/02-03-04-05...gAAOSwEeFVQVVt) that will rebuild the pump (if you send it to them) for approx. $225 (includes electrical component rebuild also). That's $100 less than the lowest price I've seen for a rebuilt pump. I don't know anything about the company so I'm certainly not endorsing them. Next step for me is to remove the pump, pull it apart and try to determine why it's leaking. I would imagine that it's a simple o-ring issue but never having taken one apart before I'm venturing into unknown territory. I'm open to suggestions or repair tips if anyone on the Forum has done this themselves.
