Weird knocking when it's cold (not chain, nor vacuum pump related)
This one is very interesting. I made a thorough research but found nothing like this.
OK, here is the story. I start the car, it's 5 degrees C outside (temp is not really relevant). It's the quietest R56 S engine out there. No chain noise, very minimal vac pump noise; very silent. I start driving, After 3 minutes or so, this clicking noise starts coming. Only when the car is at idle or there is throttle input. Sound goes away when decelarating or coasting in gear (when burning no fuel). It keeps coming (very audible inside or outside the cabin) for about 5 minutes or so then it goes away. It's dead silent again. It's like some electric connector is loose somewhere in the engine (like spark plugs or coils etc) and making this weird knock. I changed oil, plugs, coils, vac pump, chain and tensioner; ran some engine cleaner thinking it might be tappets. none of them fıxed it. No codes stored, no vac leak, no performance related issues. Just the usual cold driving jerkiness. It's also not AC related, on/off doesn't matter. Knock is there. Thanks for your help. |

1- the ticking is not coming at the first 3-4 minutes from the start. 2- it goes away when no accelerator input (i mean camshaft is still turnig at that point right?) 3- it's brand new. |
