Concerning Engine Buzzing in new to me N18 R56s
long time lurker, first time poster.
I recently took the plunge and picked up a 2013 R56s N18 with 30k miles, well maintained by an older owner for a solid price. Regular frequent oil changes. Aside from having to replace an ignition coil and swapping tires/ needing alignment, a concerning sound has started occurring which I need the forums help with.
It started one morning and hasn’t gone away. It is a high pitched metallic kind of grinding sound, which is directly linked to acceleration and deceleration. It does not occur in neutral when coasting. It gets more prominent as I accelerate . It’s very prominent with the windows up and sounds like it’s coming from the front right of the car. I still have full boost.
I’m worried that this is the turbo prop grinding against the wall. To be clear, I know there is a turbo whine that comes with the R56s which it used to have and this is not it.
I apologize for the quality in video, for some reason the iPhone isn’t picking up the pitch very well, but it can still be heard.

With a turbo charged car (not a Mini) with 2 turbos over 161K miles I had to replace two serpentine belt idler rollers (the bearings) due to the bearing getting noisy. One time the bad idler roller bearing emitting a "dry bearing" sound. The 2nd time I could hear an intermittent/sporadic high pitched "chirp". Also, with other cars none of which were Minis, I've replaced more water pumps (2) than turbo chargers/super chargers (0).

30K miles/5 years of service is an unlikely combination to cause an accessory or axle bearing to fail. Another reason to discount bearing failure is that the noise is eliminated by coasting.
My first vote would be the torque arm on the bottom of the engine.
Try coasting in neutral, rev the engine hard and also gently, report the results.
Another possible culprit; the engine mounts, but given the age of the car not very likely.

Remove the serpentine belt and run the engine briefly since the water pump is not running. Do this when the motor is warm. If the racket continues then find a good tech.
Also, get a new belt since the odds are good that it needs replacing anyway, and get either the Mini or an EPDM one, not a cheap aftermarket.
