Noisy Injectors?

Hey Team, I just picked up a 2012 Cooper S with about 75k on the odo. Runs great, pulls strong, etc. But there's a high-pitched, whistle-y rattle at idle that you can still hear when revving. Reading threads on here, I'm 99% positive it's just the high-pressure DI, but it seems excessive.

The noise is the same whether the engine is cold or warm.

No CEL, no codes. Gas mileage is good. No smoke.

I can post a video tomorrow.

Thanks!

Also have a 2012 MCS. And yes, like yesti said, it does indeed sound like a sewing machine.

Yes it click and clacks are normal. If you here it near the injectors, if its to the side of the engine its the timing chain.

How much clacking is normal from the timing chain side? If I stick my ear on the timing chain cover side of the valve cover I can hear clackity clackity clack rattling. If I stand back, I can't hear it over the rest of the engine clatter at idle. Sound is the same cold or warm. I think it's normal, but I donno.

The chain will have some noise, when its louder fair away then the injectors, most of the time that means the change needs done and has some play beyond the tensioner.
