Cut my worn stock stick that's now used as a plug. The new OE stays in the trunk.....worry free.

Love my CS one. And no issues with the accuracy for me.

I just replaced my stock one with the Craven Speed one. My stock had a split in the shaft that I've been babying for a bit now while I decided on what I was going to do. The CS dipstick I wish was a like more firm feeling, but it glides in and out silky smooth. It does create a good seal so I normally have to give it a twist to loosen it before pulling it out.

Home made extractor tool

dipstick removal tool
I just fished out a half dipstick and thought I would post the tool we made here, since it is a current thread.

We pounded the end of some baling wire to flatten it and give it an edge then bent and twisted it to make a hook. Using the top half we could get the size correct so it would spin on horizontally, but grab when lifted...Spun it down the hole and after about 5 tries pulled the old one out.
I tried the large hemostat tool, but I couldn't get it. Hope it helps someone..

Has anyone documented that the Cravenspeed reads high? I bought my R52 used last year, and was thinking of replacing the dipstick before it broke, but just now discovered that I've had the Cravenspeed one all along. It certainly is floppy.

My oil still reads the second from top hole on the Cravenspeed, and I haven't had to add any in the 5000+ miles I've put on the car.

I think there may be some confusion as to what constitutes the "top hole" in the cravenspeed. AFAIK it's not the top drilled through, it's the one blocked by the spring that marks full. Anyone hear differently?

That's what I was going by, based on the instructions I found online.

Look under the video and they have a picture showing a comparison between the stock dipstick and their dipstick for the r53.

Right you are! I've found that mine matches exactly with that image from the old dipstick.
