oil in engine harness

oil in engine harness
i have a 02 MCS stock
have had problems since getting this car
one problem has been the BCM dyeing out , took it to dealer to have them replace BCM they come back to tell me it may not be the problem but that i have oil in the engine harness. they proceed to inform me that this was a common problem with th GEN 1's and that replacing the BCM would probably not fix my problem.
so my question is if this was a common problem should this not be a recall issue ?
or is the dealer i,m working with just trying to get double pay for same job ?
advice and help would be most welcome

Not common for oil to be in harness on any R50 R53 as I've never seen that. But is known to find water in the BCM connectors.
The Gen 2 N18 cars are common to find oil in the harness from the oil pressure solenoid.
