Replace crank seal/pulley or let it ride?

Agreed, but in this case, it IS the real deal, as the actual OE seal that comes from MINI is a Chrysler part... No risk here in getting an inferior "lesser" seal.

Sorry - that probably came across incorrectly. I tried to explain in the second half of that post.
I simply meant that we can buy a $4 aftermarket seal (http://bit.ly/2CSESU9), but quality is subject. The whole point of the exercise isn't to just get the cheapest possible seal, but rather cut out the inflation from "mini oem seal" which is really the exact same seal that is used in a number of American cars. If you buy both seals, you'll get a seal from the same bin, but you'll pay $10-15 for mopar and $35-40 for mini. I'll be buying part 4667198 (American) rather than 11111485171 (mini).

For something like this, I usually have luck with RockAuto, by bundling other stuffs that I also need on a major job like this. Mopar parts is as gold if not more gold any anything MINI USA sells. Amazon can often be quite expensive, especially for something like this. I rarely waste my time with thiefBay.

Wholeheartedly agree. Is Corteco considered reliable? The whole point isn't to cheap out on seals, but to not pay such a premium. But if our OEM part is the same one that's put into an avenger/caravan/wrangler/eclipse, may as well buy their OEM part at 25% of the price.
All about do it once and do it right, but that doesn't mean pay 4x as much for the same part.

Agreed. Understood where you are coming from... Ive seen folks go with Victor Reinz or the likes and be disappointed. This seal is in constant contact with the crankshaft, it needs to hold up.

I always think of this situation with my Mini when I replaced the trans mount.
Hutchinson is an OEM supplier to MINI and this trans mount cost me $70 prior to shipping. OEM (I believe) runs around $175-200.
Hutchinson mount with ‘BMW’ (literally) scratched off…
Ever since then, I look for “OEM Suppliers” whenever I can. Same part, fraction of the price.
