HELP CAR WON'T START! No idea what to do!!
I've looked for days about possible reasons my car will not start.... it all started when my serpentine belt has snapped. Slowly things started failing... powers teeing lights etc.. I'm sure you all know what happens. Then (this was before I had realized my.belt was snapped) I had left the vehicle on and went to talk with a friend at his vehicle. When I came back I sat down, tried to reveree. Instantly the car lost all power and died. Assuming the alternator not working had drained the battery causing the little attempt of.moving to kill the car... after I had installed a new belt myself I tried to start the vehicle with no avail. It would give me a slight crank. Like it was trying to turn but couldn't muscle up enough strength. That being said I brought my battery in and of course it had a bad cell. Left with a new battery and attempted to start it agan. DI'd not start but did the same exact half crank then silence. After trying a few times I started smelling a burning electronicAL smell. Figuring it was the started I had taken it off to get it checked and auto zone. The bearings were fried on it... I bought a new starter off e bay and installed it with again... no avail and the same half crank then silence. The only other repair I had completed in this time frame was changing the spark plugs. Cleaning the TV cleaning the fuel filter.. I believe that was all. Now sitting here at a loss. Maybe believing it's a bad ground or something. I have a new camshaft sensor showing up tomorrow which is another problem I read about that could be an issue. I just really need help trying to figure out what the issue is.
to sum it up basically I had messed with some equipment and the car started to.hesitate and over Rev and low rpms and try to always stall while driving. I then lost my serpentine belt and installed a new one after installing the new serpentine belt the car wouldn't start even with a new battery installed. I changed the starter with a used one and still nothing. Everyone I tried starting it I would get what seemed like half a crank and nothing. I could depress and press the clutch and you could feel the car rock forward so it was catching. After draI ming the battery a bit the car instead of 1 crank and nothing. It would now click several times and then the cluster would die. I've only changed the plugs and the starter and cleaned a couple things. Any thing at all would help. I do not have a fault reader except the ones you can get off the odometer undr setting 14.0-14-4 |
Going to move you to the Stock Problems/Issues area.

If you drove the car when the belt was broken that also means the supercharger that turns the water pump was not working. Car could have overheated. What type of starter did you buy on ebay, something close to what the OEM would cost or a "wow that's a cheap price" type? My brother bought an ebay starter like that for his Dodge, it did not work but he did get it really cheap.

OK good to know.
Long distance diagnosing is not that easy. Starter will not turn the engine over that to me equates to either the starter is not getting enough voltage/amps, the starter solenoid is bad, a possible bad ground or that the engine is seized. |

Put the car in 6th gear and see if you can push it.

Well I mean I tried to push it in 6th and it didn' move... how ever input it in natural and let it roll and saw the belt was pulleys were turning. At least the ones I was able to feel/see while avoiding getting ran ovr

OK, suggest you take the battery out and have it checked, this will also take the power from the ECU and you will get a type of reset that may help.

Detension the belt and try to start the car, burning electrical smell, belt failure, dash lights on, and a car that no longer turns over leads to believe the alternator is seized.
