indicators not turning off after turn

I have searched. Really.
My project '07 MCS had the problem when I first got it of the indicators not stopping after making a turn. I know you have to turn it past a certain point, but this is even after a full turn of the steering wheel.
I tried defaulting/recoding using NCS to no avail. This was ignored since I was in the process of rebuilding it.
Now that I am getting close to finishing it, I've started to do the engine break-in.
Manually cancelling the signals is not an option, so the next step was to buy another SZL module. After re-VINing it and defaulting the module, this one does the same exact thing.
Everything works; headlights, washers, etc., so what the heck can it be?

Ideas? Am I missing something stupidly easy?

If it's a matter of it not automatically turning it off it could be a problem with the clock spring. Have you scanned the car and read what faults came back?

You say project; what turned it into a project originally, engine work? accident damage?

What do you mean by "re-VINing". After you install a new SZL cluster you must take it to a bmw/mini shop and have it calibrated. Your car doesn't know which way the wheels are pointed so if you have your signal on and you turn it doesn't know when to turn off. I replaced mine and the same thing happened before I took it in and got it programmed. Should cost around 100 dollars.

to answer your questions....
The clock spring seems to be fine. You can turn it until it stops in either direction, so it doesn't seem to be broken.
I lined up the dots according to center. reinstalled the steering wheel, etc.
booted up my laptop and NCS Expert to re-vin the module to my car, and defaulted it. I may have updated it via WINKFP, I can't remember.
Then I went into INPA and read it to see what values it was reporting for wheel center. They are correct. No errors when you ask it calibrate in INPA.
Also, when you read the error memory in INPA, nothing is returned (except the light bulbs that are not plugged up at this time.
I label this as a project car because it is just that. Not wrecked, but the engine jumped time at 48k mi, and I rebuilt it. In addition to that, I did some retrofitting of things; bluetooth, radio upgrade, etc. It just got painted this past weekend. My threads are here if you want to read them.

So, the reason I changed out the module is that I have read that the SZL module does and/or can go bad and have this behavior. It being a Mar '07 build it falls into that category more so than a later year car.
Now, is this something that can be corrected via an option change that I am missing, or via NCS expert coding?

Edit: I have found a couple links for more info that I may need to try.

Link2
I have done part of that, and I thought it would have been enough. Guess not. With that said, I have driven it some. No errors from anything.

That's correct.
When you are installing a new SZL (aka clock spring) you must calibrate the disc, before installing the steering wheel. I had the same problem.
It can be done with INPA to check the SZL is in "0º".
But re-VINing the SZL is correct since you want your current VIN in your "new" SZL
Defaulting the SZL is OK too since it should be with the default config for the current modules

Then:

Check with INPA there is 0º in your new SZL
