Has anyone else ever had a 2786 code? Only running ALTA CIA...
Has anyone else ever had a FC 2786 code? We have an early 2008 R55 Clubman and a few weeks ago while driving, out of the blue, there was a severe loss in power and the engine check light came on shortly afterwards. The car has 38000kms. At 500kms on the clock I put on the ALTA CIA, it's now just over 4 years and all of a sudden this code showed up.
It was reset by the dealership and all seemed OK for about a week, did one 150km run on the highway only, then a total loss of power again, the car simply won't go into boost. Now and again it will pull then it holds back the boost. I have pressure tested everything at the hot side of the turbo, no leaks. I also removed the BOV to check to see if there were any tears, nothing. I am at a total loss! The car only has the ALTA CIA and boost tubes. I even put back the stock tube on the intake manifold because the ALTA part was really not up to scratch, it rubbed in so many places to the point things were cutting into the tube.
Does anyone have any suggestions. I was told by ALTA to pressure test the intake system from right after the MAF, which I have not done as yet... I would have thought pressurizing the non-pressured side of the intake is not ideal?
Would really appreciate your thoughts, suggestions. No engine check light has appeared yet we have this problem.
Many thanks.

Does your R55 have an automatic transmission?
* MINI DTC P2786 - Gear Shift Actuator; Temperature Too High
Because the ECU is seeing too high of transmission fluid temperatures...
Which suggests the transmission fluid is low / worn, or there's other hiding issues surrounding such.

Nope, not an automatic... I was also told that this code was a lean mixture code my Mini. Usually there are two codes at least for fault conditions, this was the first time they have just seen one. It was simply FC 2786...
Thanks for your thoughts...
Question, what is a good scanner to get to read and reset codes? Perhaps all this is because there is something there that needs to be reset... TBS

The code you pulled doesn't sound like a federally mandated P-code.
You'll want to grab a scanner that reads MINI's ECU protocols.

Thanks for the help there... the scan was done at the Mini Dealership.
What do you know about the Equus 3030 code reader? It's 1/3 the price but I don't want to take a short cut.
I was thinking about getting the ALTA ACCESSport for this scanning part and then having it for the better performance once I have resolved these issues but it is a large investment...
Just saw your post Clubman, sounds like a really nice tool, I am going to take a look now... I don't see a specific one for the Mini though, is this a downside, will it not show all the codes?

i know this is a very old thread, but i wanted to add information in case someone stumbles upon it.
mini FC 0x2786 is equivalent to standardized P2188
description: System Too Rich at Idle
possible fault causes: oxygen sensor (before catalytic converter), HFM (hot film air mass sensor) (USA only), injector nozzle, intake manifold pressure sensor, fuel primer pump, rail pressure sensor, camshaft sensor, intake air temperature, poor quality gasoline
