Easy way to shut bypass valve/zip tie shut
What's the easiest way to close up the bypass valve? I'm not super mechanically inclined but have power loss across the board and my mechanic has found nothing wrong.
Im at 2psi max boost in a 17% pulley car, here's to hoping it's just the bypass valve! Would like to zip tie it shut to test, but would also like to not have to take it out if I don't have to. |
If you reach down behind the right intercooler horn you can reach the bypass valve. You can zip tie the actuator arm closed and wrap the zip tie around the adjustment screw to the right of it. It's a tight fit to do it from above but it can be done.

If you have 2psi boost max, I wouldn't think the BPV would be the issue, unless it's not closing fully, in which case manually closing it wouldn't change the result.

After pressing the lever I'm not hearing any clicking on release, so it may not be closing all the way, looks like I'll take it out and hopefully a Detroit tuned one will take care of the issue.

We see these break all the time. Like said above, with the car off you thread a zip tie around the arm and the set screw and tighten it up. a long pair of pliers is helpful. this trick always rules out or shows the fix instantly. Let us know if we can help!

I zip-tied the valve closed, car still falls on its face when accelerating, I don't think the valve is my problem now
