Trunk making a thump noise

My trunk makes a thump noise every time I hit a bump. What could cause this? Also water is leaking inside the trunk hatch. My mini is a 2003 mini cooper S. Thanks again for any tips on how to check this!!!!

Check your suspension; the struts, the sway bar and the stainless steel end that attaches the sway bar to the hub. Suggest you also check your muffler supports.

Anti roll bar bushes, cheap and easy fix. Causes thump over bump.

Might look at the foam top bushings on the struts...

I had three sets of them fail over a few weeks each, they flattened out and lost all their resilience, all OEM parts too....It drove me nuts and ruined one Koni FSD. Finally went with Poweflex yellows and it's amazing how many noises went away.Handling improved too, and the FSD struts work like they are supposed to now.

I had the same issue, clunks coming from the rear trunk area, but after I took the bags of my dismembered Ex out of the car it was all good... I'm kidding... I transported her dismembered body in the back of my Challenger. <Still Kidding>

IT WAS A JOKE

Motor On!
