PO597/$07E Code

2010 Justa Hatchback with 110K miles. Just got this code for the first time. Schwaben scanner referred to it as "Thermostat Heater Contro; Circuit/Open".

I cleared it and in a couple quick restarts, it did not come right back.

Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks as always,

Just an indication that your thermostat is starting to get stuck in the open position. Consider replacing the thermostat and possibly associated hoses somewhere down the line.

Is it still a thing to replace radiator cap when you do the t-stat? I know it was always recommended in years past.

Sound like a bad thermostat housing.

Note: 6/2010 to 3/2012 Base MINI Cooper ( NON S) require the adapter if its te first time being replaced.

To replace the cap is a gen 1 MINI thing. Gen 2 It's the cap when you do the expansion tank most of the time. Or the expansion tank leaks out of the top and bubbles out.

The water pump was replaced at 99,000 at the Boston Mini dealer under the extended warranty, because it was starting to slightly leak. I will try to find the work order to see if they replaced anything else like the thermostat housing, thermostat, etc.

Do you think these other items should have been replaced when the water pump was replaced? If they have not been, I assume the thermostat should be replaced at the same time with the housing?

The code came up a few days ago for the first time. I cleared it with my Schwaben scanner. It came back the next day. I cleared it again and it has not come back, so far, for about five days, driving about 60 miles a day.

Thanks so much,
