Replaced March 31 with OEM from Mini dealer.

I cleaned rim with like a steel wool.

What should next step be ?

I really don't know your car at all so I can't locate it for you. Check here it might have some good info. Maybe someone else can chime in here as well.

If you remove the inner liner of the wheel well you will see where the gas cap assembly mates into a rubber hose that goes to the tank. Be sure the clamps are tight and I am thinking there maybe a another smaller line that tees/wyes into the larger hose going to the tank.

There are some screws and some plastic rivets. Will need to remove the wheel also.

I got rid of my smart phone when I retired. Just take your time and be sure to use some jack stands to hold the rear end up after you take the tire off.

Thanks again for all your help
its MUCH appreciated. .
I don't have any jack stands. ... but I have changed all four tires on a Subaru outback 2 tires off at a time. With no issues. I did secure the FRONT when doing the back wheels with a rock so it would not roll.
is the mini Cooper unstable ?
or will it damage the rear if I do not use ?
I love to learn new things and appreciate your advice and expertise

Jack stands are dirt cheap. Your life, limbs or at the least property is worth $20 for a pair? It only takes one second to ruin your life. I'd buy overrated stands so you can use them for bigger cars later on.

I'd only jack one wheel at a time without jack stands to change a tire. When at home I put a jack stand under the car even when only swapping out the snow tires.

Cars can slide sideways off a jack, not just front and back so blocking the wheels is great but not foolproof.

There are other locations for vac leaks. There are a couple of points under the hood to look at as well. I keep getting the same code even after changing fuel cap and the diagnostic pump. Usually some grease on the valve fitting at the front passenger side will make it go away for awhile. There is another fitting by the thermostat housing under the intake.
You can always get a smoke test done by a shop to pinpoint the leak. I am almost at that point now.

Scotty Kilmer has some good videos, I use his AC vid in the FAQ section. Below he does a vacuum test. Would think you could use the same method on the MINI.
