Location of TCU/TCM module?
Hey everyone,
My 06 MCS popped a 0700 code, and luckily my scanner can read in depth and it shows "Aisin TCU OBD relevant fault". I wanted to ask if anyone knows where this module is located. Realoem doesn't have any diagrams for its location unfortunately. Thank you! https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...8983685038.jpg |
I remember seeing a box like that inside the trunk, underneath the plastic cover that goes over the truck latch/lock. Try there!

Found it!
Thanks for the input, it turned out to be under the steering wheel panel, up against the firewall. Rigged up another unit and the car is running good again! https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.nor...be9c68e665.jpg |
Silly question but was it a simple unplug and plug in the new one or is there more technical work to do with the electronics? |

I wouldn't chase the TCU as that fault is a generic fault and doesn't mean the TCU is bad. You need to get the real BMW software to find out what the real codes are and fix them. As you will find you will have more codes with it than just the 700 fault

Here is a good link for anyone having transmission issues on the r56 automatic, this applies to the clubman R55 and S model r56.
