Location of TCU/TCM module?
 

Hey everyone,

My 06 MCS popped a 0700 code, and luckily my scanner can read in depth and it shows "Aisin TCU OBD relevant fault".

I wanted to ask if anyone knows where this module is located. Realoem doesn't have any diagrams for its location unfortunately.

I remember seeing a box like that inside the trunk, underneath the plastic cover that goes over the truck latch/lock. Try there!

Thanks for the input, it turned out to be under the steering wheel panel, up against the firewall.

Rigged up another unit and the car is running good again!

Unit was behind the pedals and higher up against the firewall. It is straight forward, just bolts, but due to location you have to reach at awkward angles to get at them. On this car, no coding was needed, just plug and play. Hope this helps!

I wouldn't chase the TCU as that fault is a generic fault and doesn't mean the TCU is bad. You need to get the real BMW software to find out what the real codes are and fix them. As you will find you will have more codes with it than just the 700 fault
