I have noticed that some MINIs have glove boxes, and some have a "parcel" shelf beneath both the steering wheeland the passenger airbag area. I have noticed thisonly from interior photos, soI am wondering if the shelf system is just pre-production, or if it comes only on certain models, or what? Who gets the shelf, and who gets the glovebox?

thanks-

(you see, I was given a pair of MINI driving gloves as an anticipatory gift, and am wondering if I am going to have a glovebox to put them in. )

Depending on what country you are from, may depend on whether you get a glove box. In australia the early Coopers came without it, but post June production cars for this market (Cooper's & Cooper S) should have the glovebox fitted. US cars have had this (on the Cooper S at least) from day one.

If your from the UK it may be worthwhile checking with your dealer as I imagine the glovebox would be a cost+ option.

Cheers

Thanks, Basil. I'm logged for a Cooper S in the US, so I guess I'm getting a box! I just couldn't remember from the test drive.

Yes, and the glovebox is AIRCONDITIONED - to pack your chocolates, no doubt. Get one soon!

Gloveboxes are currently only available on US/Canadian and Japanese MINI.
This is to be extended shortly and a RHD version of the glovebox has just been completed for inclusion on RHD models in the future.
