Turn signal won't turn off!
 

Hey everyone, my 2003 cooper is having a turn signal issue.

I had someone try my car out, and I am not sure if they flipped the stalk too hard or something, but the right turn signal is on, and I can't get it to turn off by moving the stalk back to center.

If I pull down to signal left, then the right one goes off and left goes on. But when I return it to center, the right one goes off again.

Do you guys think its the switch or maybe a relay?

no relay in the wiring diagram I have .. ts are controlled by the main computer

so it sounds like the switch got busted . .

there is a fuse ... F8 .... 8th from top, left row, in car fuse panel ... pull it and you have no ts ...

if you decide to take steering wheel apart to take a look, watch out for the air bag .... they can go BOOM. Disconnect battery . . .

The bottom half of the steering wheel shroud is pretty easy to take off. Be aware that you may need to pull out the rubber seal around the ignition switch first, then there are two torx screws on the underside .... then there are clips right up by the stalks to hold the halves together. They should release when you squeeze together ....

Thanks for the tips guys, and sorry about the late reply.

I ended up taking the shrouds off, and sliding the signal stalk sideways and out after taking the torx screws off. No need to take out the wheel or airbag.

I took some electronics cleaner spray and sprayed, waited for it to dry, then gently wiped off the contacts and sprayed again. Put it all back together and it works like new! Try it before replacing, priced out replacement at about $90 for the stalk.
