Handbrake doesn't click, button doesn't press
Need some help.
2006 Mini Cooper S All of a sudden, the handbrake stopped working. The lever doesn't click as you lift it and it doesn't hold up top. Also the 'release' button appears to be permanently depressed - as in it doesn't press in. If I yank really hard on the parking brake lever, it sometimes grabs at the top but seems to pops out really easily. Any thoughts on what could cause this and how to fix it? Thanks. |
Sounds like it's not grabbing the locks because the button is stuck depressed. Need some way to free the button up. Though I'm not sure exactly how you would achieve that...

I managed to pry the end off and pull the button out. Still no luck. Any other ideas?

Yea, it maybe jammed internally, I would pop it out and examine the internals. Its it jammed good I would just replace it unless it. It fused riveted together , so you cannot just unbolt the main structure.
Here is the pic and product. Good luck. 34406774814 Handbrake / E Brake Lever http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/SiteSearch/34406774814/ http://c1552172.r72.cf0.rackcdn.com/566177_x600.jpg |
