Random loss of certain MPH's available in cruise

Well, over the past few weeks during my cruise home I set my cruise. typically its at 69mph. Last week it would not allow 69mph!!! 68, ok.. 70, yeah, ok... 69 disappeared. Well, the next day it was back. However, this week, 68mph disappeared.

annnnd now its fine.

Has anyone else experienced this strangness?

I have seen that before but never posted it because I just assumed I was crazy. I figured the 69 was missing because it was a funny German who programmed the car and thought it would be funny to leave the number 69 out. hehe

As far as I know the MINI doesn't show the speed you set the cruise to, as other cars do. It simply keeps it in memory and tries to match it but it always shows the actual speed...

Having said that, I did notice as well that it is very difficult to make it match 1mph or 1kmh speed differences. This is not the case with our Audi, which appears to match the cruise speeds exactly (and it does show the pre-set cruise speed in addition to the actual).

UM. wha? how / why would i make this post if it did not display the speed i set the cruise to?:sly:

its been normal for the past year, i used to set it at 68mph, now im at 69 (woooo ima badass!), but recently randomly it wont let me the + - button will jump over a speed...

Mine has done this since new. If I am really intent on setting a particular speed, I drive at that speed and set the CC. I think the + and - buttons don't exactly add or subtract one MPH, so on occasion they can "miss" one particular speed or another. My guess is that it's due to some sort of rounding error in the math, but that's a total guess.

I believe it's normal, and I don't worry about it.

Mine is a little flakey like this too. I'll set it for a speed, but the car will do one MPH faster regardless. If I try to drop it one MPH it'll drop two like it refuses to do the speed I set it at. I think it's normal for our Minis.

The manual states pretty clearly on page 50 (2007 with Nav) that the +/- buttons change the speed "approximately by 2 kmh or 2 mph". It also says you need to keep adding up until you reach the desired speed, but nowhere does it say that it displays the pre-set speed.

Update: It appears that 2009+ models do display the pre-speed in the tacho... Sorry, but the 2007 definitely doesn't and the particular entry is missing from the Owner's Manual.

It's a MINIquirk that's had me plagued with :eek2: for a while now, 5+yrs!! Only mine is usually in the lower MPH's...say 29 is set, then I decelerate, then I try to recoup the 29 MPH and it will only lock on 28??!!
