Driver's side door "sticking"
Peoples,
My driver's side door is sort of sticking shut. It was happening last fall, stopped in the winter, and now it's coming back with the ever so slightly nicer weather. It's not an actual stick in the common sense of the word but it is some sort of mechanical thing. I unlock the door, press the handle and pull. Many times it opens just a very tiny bit and wont open anymore. Normally I have to push it hard back in and pull it back out. xxx  Sometimes when this happens to my girl she has to jump in the passenger side and open the drivers side door from inside, an act for which there never is a problem. Anyone ever have the same issue? Any thoughts? Thank you! Best, Gene  |
Door lock might have a little corrosion in it from the winter. Did you spray penetration oil in the lock? So it can release correctly.

They can gum up a little on the rail or need replaced all together. #4 http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/51217176811/ES90052/ http://c1552172.r72.cf0.rackcdn.com/329403_x600.jpg Thanks and hope that helps. |
I haven't tried that. This has been happening since the first summer I had the car. The issue is it happens 1 out of 10 times so I can't really bring it to the dealer. I'd hope nothing is corroding on my relatively new car but I'll give that a shot. :)

Spray BMW High temperature penetrating lubricant (WD40) directly into the rotating latch assembly. And don't be shy about it. Hold the door handle in the open position and firmly shut and pull the door open repeatedly many many times in rapid succession. Spray again. Give it a couple days and if it doesn't get better, take it to the dealer. They should replace the latch/actuator assembly.

Did you get to spray the lock or hinge and check the door brake. Thanks |
