New to Mini's, question about a sound

Forgive me if this has been covered. I did search but it's kind of general and hard to find specifics.

I'm new to Mini's and noticed a sound that is probably no big deal but I thought I'd better double check. When I turn off the ignition I can hear what sounds like a fan spinning down. It sounds a little labored. Its on a 2005 MCS. Is this normal? What is it?

Thanks

If you have an S, it's the fan that helps cool off the turbo. Totally normal.

Oops, just realized this is in the 1st gen MINI's section. You don't have a turbo. You have a supercharger :)

Haha. Indeed. I should have specified it is an MCS

Depending on the outside temperature it is probably the fan spinning down from cooling the AC radiator.

or maybe the power steering fan,

umm its definitely your auxiliary radiator fan. you probably have a broken stage 1 resistor. its not a big deal as your stage 2 will still operate. mine has been doing that since 2007 and its been just fine. its like a 2 or 300 dollar part plus a lot of labor to fix it. i would just leave it if i were you
