Am I missing something?

I'm trying to see how the rear washer works. I hear a whine, but no juice.

I don't even know if there is a separate reservoir for the rear washer.

I can't seem to figure out how to get the TIS or ETK CDROMS to show me any of this.

Can anyone help?

I don't find them much use either - Gary at MINI Peabody is much more useful

In TIS, I clicked on symptom, then operability/ergonomics, then electrical system, then wash/wipe system then on the big right pointing arrow (bottom right of screen) which gives a list of stuff which might or might not be any use.
Make sure to choose the MINI Cooper first ...

As far as I know the rear washer shares water with the front. So if you are hearing a noise but no water, and assuming your fronts still work, that suggests a blockage in the pipe from front to back - but I have no idea where the pipe runs.
Sorry.

OR ... With the ETK CD:

choose a model/year then click "graphic search" then pick "61" (the electrical section) and go right to the end of the list to a picture called "single parts for rear window wiper" (the name pops up if you leave mouse hovering.
Click on that and you get an exploded view of the rear wiper, that does not help much except maybe the "non return valve" is blocked!

A few pics back is "windshield cleaning container" but I don't see a pump for the rear wiper there, so I am baffled.

(fed up with me yet?)
On eBay I just noticed this:
washer bottle for MINI

So if there is only one pump, how do they send the water to front or back?

Xenon equiped cars have two. One on each side. No tank in the back, seperate pump though.

The rears use the same tank and pump as the fronts, the right side reservoir (xenon cars have one on the left)

The pump has two outlets. The fluid is directed to either one depending on the direction the pump is turned (the polarity of the 12 volts applied to the motor). If you arent getting any flow to the rear but you can hear the motor spin, it can be caused most likely by a buildup of dirt in the rear nozzle. Use a pin to clear it. Next most common problem is freezing in the nozzle ir the tubing. Failing that, other possibilities are kinked tubing leading to the rear or dirt buildup somewhere in the tubing.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll try and get the hose off the nozzle in the rear and see if I strike water.

Sp the CDROMs don't have exploded views of the engine, drivetrain or emissions controls either?
And no wiring diagrams?

Blech. I wasted $25 I guess.

That's because one tank is for your headlight washers...
