Creases in driver's side window sill

1 Attachment(s)
My 2011 convertible has started to develop creases on the driver's side window sill. The creases are about 1/8th inch wide and about 6 inches and 18 inches long. Has this happened to anyone else's car?

Nothing on my 08... How does the other side look? It should be covered under warranty.

The passenger side is fine. I emailed the picture to my service advisor and they agreed that it should be covered by warranty. They have ordered the part and will let me know when it arrives.

Actually I looked a little closer on mine and those creases are there but just barely visible on both sides. No where near yours... Glad you'll be getting it replaced!

The creases happened to the replacement door panel as well. I finally figured out what is happening.

When you park with the top down and the windows up and the sun strikes the top of the window at the right angle the window acts like a magnifying glass and focuses the light in a line parallel to the window. This heats up the door sill and the softened material develops a crease.

Here is a quick video of a flashlight being focused by the window.

And here is the resulting line in the door panel
