Airbag light won't reset
Hello guys, I've had my mini for a few months and the airbag light came on and won't turn off.
I've a friend who has a SNAP ON VERSUS eems323. And I am still unable to reset it! Is there a tutorial or must I travel to dealership and pay 140 dollars for them to press a few buttons? Also I found a letter that was mailed to 2005 mini cooper owners with this issue with the VIN sharpied out the says the OC sensor was a warranty to 100,000 miles or 10 years....yet customer relations refuses to help or reach a mutual agreement. It's really sad. |
Which airbag light (passenger airbag light and/or the one on the dash). Get the error code, which should identify the exact problem.
If it's the passenger light, the problem is probably the sensor mat: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...ing-light.html |
BMW software INPA can reset a light if that is all that is needed and it isn't actually a fault. Nothing can reset the light if something is wrong, but if the seat was disconnected while the battery was still hooked up, it will turn it off.

It's both lights... and I forget what the error code was, i know it was OC_3 or something...
Is there any way to bypass this? I mean...its a bit ridiculous that there is over 100 threads on this website alone about this, yet no solution from MINI. |
You have to fix what caused the light to come on in the first place before you can reset it.

This is a common issue, it may be the seat sensor mat as someone pointed out above. Mine has been coming and going lately. Twice now after I had a passenger leave the car and I continued driving, the seatbelt chime would go off for 5 minutes as well. Extremely irritating. I know I'll have to bite the bullet and fix this probably $1300 problem soon, but for the time being I just avoid carrying passengers.

I'm not really happy about this, my problem began the same way, flickering on and off, I figured nothing major was wrong but now I hear air bag won't go off at all...how can they not offer an extended warranty on their crappy seat sensors is beyond me.

It could be something as simple as the connector. Mine went schizophrenic on me and I just reached under the seat and fiddled with the connectors and everything is fine now, most of the time. Once in a while there is a relapse but it doesn't last for long.
