Quick story to my last post

So i moved from south jersey to sunny florida to live with my pops. i get all the way to florida and my fuel light turns on.. but im close so i figure ill wait till his exit and get gas off the exit. so i get off pull into the first gas station which happens to be a hess station. i put 25 in the take to get me to my dads. i had to pee so i pull up to the store take a leak go back to start and it bogs out.. so i try to turn it over again nothing.. so i go threw steps and i got spark, air and.. no fuel i bang the tank and get it started..the next day thats the only way i could start it and a SES light pops up.. i get the code read at my work to find a p2097 code post cat 02 rich fuel reading.. i drive it home, go to work the next day and home again ( i have to bang the tank every time) go to my car today to go to work and nothing.. i bang and bang but nothing.. i feel it must be the fuel pump but only code is the p2097 and the pump has to be ordered and would like to know if its that before i buy it.. anyone have any ideas on what it could be? I NEED HELP thanks nam

Fuel is what cools the pump so running it low can actually hurt it. Just based on your post, it seems reasonable to me to think the fuel pump is bad. Change it out and see what happens.

The rich fuel doesn't go with the fact you have to hit the pump to get it to run, unless that is totally unrelated and coincidental, which it could be. The quality of gas is also a factor, but the tapping of the tank, if it actually fixes things, sounds like a bad pump.

You can test pressure etc
