HPFP, Timing Chain, Cold Start "RESOLVED" for 2011 and 2012 "S" Models?

Since the problems with above did not start until 36,000 miles (usually) and peaked at 51,000 miles (just after the warranty was over) for 2007 MCS' it is too EARLY (i.e., not enough owners with enough miles for problems to surface) to know based on actual evidence for 2011 and 2012s...

Personally, I do not trust ("once burned, twice shy") MINI, so I traded my 2007 MCS in on a 2012 base Cooper - but I have a friend who is interested in a 2011 or 2012 Countryman "S" (AWD model).

Obviously MINI is not going to publically announce that the design flaws were fixed, since that would mean having to acknowlege (and thus danger of recall) that there were known design faults...

Having said that - does anyone have any actual "proof" that the "S" related problems were fixed - or should I recommend my friend buy a Subaru?

Thanks,

Tim

I have posted to wrong forum?!?!?! (can a Moderator move this?? sorry)

But - 1.6L 300HP+ turbo "much shorter" WRX coming out later in 2012 - sorry - it will be a JCW killer:) and probably cheaper too:)

the cm is a new model. granted that it uses the same engine. due to the japanese's natural disasters and first year design issue/quality, i would stay away from early '11. if your friend is looking for reliability, then just the regular cm non turbo is quite reliable.

"cm" is not a valid acronym - please remove this user from board (justamini is just as dumb) - Canada's MINI "Classic" is now the officially sanctioned term - will take U.S. 10 yrs. to adopt...

Friend bought a "Classic"...

2002-2005 WRX's look GREAT- just as good as MINIs, but in a less feminine way...nudge-nudge, wink-wink,...

And my 1990 Geo Metro could kick any MINIs ass (and after the Suzuki GTi 1.3L engine, brake swap - any MCS' ass...

That's it for now!
