Help with identifying mysterious bluish fluid

I noticed a wet spot under my Mini. I investigated and found a oily, bluish fluid seeping from under the car. Here are some pics of it: https://picasaweb.google.com/1072592...6806/MiniFluid

Water pump? Supercharger? Any ideas?

Pretty sure it's coolant. Had the same thing happen to mine and it was the water pump which had to be replaced. Thankfully it was covered under the extended warranty.

Oem coolant is blue...could be dripping from many places...thermostat gasket/housing is common. Just need to have it looked at, and check the coolant level (you have as part of normal car ownership, when checking the oil level and ps fluid lecels right?).
Ps fluid tends to have a hue to it....might want to check the level too.

It's coolant as has been said. Check your thermostat housing as they are a well known leak point in the cooling system.

I thought that it was coolant too, but my coolant is orangy-brown. It should be covered under my extended warranty, although towing probably isn't.

While I was just going to agree with prior posts about coolant. Once I saw the pictures. It is not likely coolant. Is the fluid visable in any area other than around the transmission drain bolt in picture #2? If not then check this thread out. The bolt may only need tightening, but I would do the whole job just to make sure the manual transmission fluid levels are good and the problem is resolved.

+1^

It seems to be confined to the tranny drain bolt. It would really help to know if its oil based or water based. Just lightly touch it with your finger and try to rinse it with plain water. You'll tell right away. If its oil based we can eliminate coolant and AC condensation.

The fact it is blue kinda points to the orgin/type of fluid...
When things leak in a car, the air currents can get the fuids to appear in unrelated places..
gear oil tends to be golden brown, thick, and viscious...
Royal purple does sell purple oil...
But its blue ....
The color of the coolant in the op's thank might be differant than in the rad....how often is coolant given a courtsy top at a quickie oil place...and be a "universal" that is not compatible ....causes some interesting colour in the tank.
Hopefully this is fixed by now....
