Power Steering Fan duct replacement

2006 MCS 6 speed - I just finished replacing the fan with a SPAL fan from A1. I added the duct kit to hopefully extend the life of the fan. I was able to confirm that fan kicks on as it should, but I am not sure it is "blowing" the right way. I can feel the air exiting the new vent in the under body panel. Is this correct?

Thanks.

It would make more sense for the fan to pull from the vent in front - cool air, rather than pulling hot air from above the PS motor where the engine and exhaust are.

Just went the A1 site, which fan did you get?

I ordered A1 #30103018 and I checked that the SPAL part number had an "A" at the end. It is possible that the fan was mislabeled, or I misread it, or somehow the wiring got switched, but before I start troubleshooting all of that, I wanted to confirm that it was indeed blowing the wrong way.

I agree with Eric that intuitively it makes sense that it should be sucking up the cooler air under the car, but I thought it might be possible that due to aerodynamics or air flow under the hood, or some other reason, it might be working as designed. I am just looking for confirmation, one way or the other, how it is working for other owners.

That's what I thought. When I was removing the bad fan, I broke the tab off the wire connector, so I think I may have reconnected it backward. I am pretty sure I have the right fan, but I will check that too. I will jack it up and take a look this weekend. It isn't supposed to get above 36 F this week where I live so I am not worried about it overheating before then.
