Car will turn over, but just wont "POP"

It's a yellow top
I talked to another guy he said he ended up replacing his DME module (computer)
I think I may have shorted out the DME, because of map sensor grounding if it where the power wire it may have produced Hightower current that the powe supply couldn't handle.. Still unsure going to see if I can find someone parting out a mini

Is there any way to test the MAP sensor? (i.e. start with the cheapest parts first!)

I check my manual the wire that is bare is either the output signal or the 5v power supply, I will get a multimeter at work tomorrow and see if I have voltage going to the map sensor, should be 5v.
If I have voltage and it's the probably the sensor, at least I'm hoping so
If no voltage I can check the voltage of another sensor to see if it's the power supply from the DME

so i have been looking up the cost of the dme computer, and its bout 1600 plus installation and programming.
Found a place on the web http://www.rpmmotorsport.net/
They do DME programming.. so if worse comes to worse at least i could probably pick one up on ebay and have them flash it.

and I can check the ews plug also.
Hey JPMM would you happen to have a code reader i could borrow?

So I used JPMM's code reader but it gave me "no link" about 7 times, I know it worked because we he tested it on his to show me how to use it.
checked multiple pins and plugs I got no voltage with the key in the ON pos.
i even checked every pin on the map sensor all read 0vdc...
I am going to have to assume that its the ECU, really dont know what else to think.

Checked a couple of fuses today, fuel pump (F20, 20A, inside left kick panel) and ECM; ignition coil fuel injectors; crankshaft position sensor (F02, 20A, under the bonnet. both fuses were good.
Here are some pictures of a bare ware was rubbing, just noticed it but where not touching when i tried to start the car.
I will try and tape up the wires and start it again, idk if the high voltage associated with the coil would make it arc to the metal.

Steuergerat box??
Immobilizer Controls
The MINI Cooper is equipped with a component called the "EWS3-Steuergerat box" that is hidden under the dashboard near the front driver's side wheel arch. The wiring and circuitry inside this box control the immobilizer, which can affect start-up if it's not functioning. A small switch in the box is designed to click into place at start-up; but if there is no switch movement, the engine will not start dead. You'll need to replace the box or have a mechanic check the wiring for you.
