moving driver's seat(back part)

I can feel the seat move forward(back part) when I brake...is there a way I can tighten something myself?...I really really don't wanna go to the dealership...

thanks

konijay, I was rear-ended back in March and when I got the car back from being repaired, I had the same problem. Initially, the body shop didn't want to do anything, I persisted and they decided to replace the seat back. You can check, but the seat back from Mini is priced outrageously high. They wound up getting a seat from a junk yard and used that seat back. It's better but I wouldn't call it perfect. I don't know what is inside the seat that latches to hold the seat from moving, but it appears to be difficult to fix.

damn, that is exactly what happened to me...rear-ended and i noticed this after I picked up from the bodyshop...i hoped i could just tighten something to fix...when I am not in the seat and try to move the seat, it just moves slightly like any other seats = same movement as the passenger side...but I definitely feel it when I am DRIVING...

Wow, that is an interesting coincidence! I was told the body shop took the upholstery off the seat and switched seat backs. You would think once the seat was apart they would be able to bend or adjust the seat latch, but that's what was done. It doesn't move as much but sometimes I can still notice movement. It would be interesting to drive a Mini that thirty thousand miles on it and see if there is movement in the seat back. That said, I'm not sure I could change anything short of buy a complete new seat(but that's not gonna happen!).
