Car won't lock!
Hey everyone,
i just bought my first mini (2003 MCS) about a month ago now, and i decided to play with the settings you can get to in the dash to resync the throttle bodies. found here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/faq.php?f..._obc_functions i did the reset option 21.0 and everything seemed to go fine. ...That is until i tried to lock the car. if i try to lock the car via the key fob, it will lock for 1/2 a second and then unlock. Same if i try to use the key in the door. i can lock via the switch inside and then fenagle the driver door to lock via the key if i put it in just the right position. I tried doing a search, but all the threads i found seem to relate more to the fact that a certain door won't lock due to an actuator. I'm not sure this is the case as the actuator seems to be working (pins go up and down) but i don't know. Any advice is much appreciated! |
I have no idea what the problem might be, but you're better off than me. My passenger side door won't UNlock.

My 06 does this once in a while. Walk around the car and open and close EVERYTHING firmly. Then try again!

it gets weirder...
i unplugged the battery and hooked it up to the battery charger to make sure it was fully charged. after i plugged it back in the locks worked fine. once i stuck my key in the ignition and turned it on, it stopped working, and the gong started going off when the door was open... i unplugged the battery and plugged it back in, and it did the same thing. works fine until i put the key in... |
update...
as long as the driver door is closed i can use the lock switch inside the car and it works great. Also, the gong constantly beeps with the driver door open - something it didn't used to do. unlocking via the key fob works fine - it's just locking. It locks, and then immediately unlocks. i talked to our local mini mechanic (dealers is 200+ miles away) and they didn't seem to have any idea as to what could cause that. Looks like i'll need to make an appointment and bring it in :( |
ah-haaaaaaaaa!!
figured it out! there was a blown 5ah fuse that is designated to the alarm (which i don't believe this car has) that was blown. Replaced it, the beeping stopped and the door locks! |
