Urgent!!:: Car won't start, even with a new battery!!!

Okay. I have been having this intermittent issue for a couple of weeks, where it took me several tries to crank the engine.

Finally, this morning, it gave out on me.

Symptoms are like this:

When I try to crank the engine= NOTHING. No clicking from solenoid, no nothing.

All the lights and stuffs turns on perfectly. Radio, wiper, windows, etc...

Things I have checked/done:

1) Battery replacement
2) Sand battery cable to clean the corrosion
3) Cleaning the Passenger side ground wire (near the engine mount)
4) Checked all the fuses, interior / under the hood
5) Push-Pop start worked

Still nothing. Gahhhh it is the only car I have and with it being dead, I can't commute to school or anything without bothering others...

Please anyone, tell me what to do to get this thing MOVING!!!

I also checked the Clutch switch(?) too. Its the connector on the master cylinder right? kind of long, that hooks on to the cyclinder..? did I check the right switch?

How's your power steering and are the wheels facing straight? (It's on the same circuit as the starter)

It'll push start but not jump start?

Motor On::

Yes, it won't turn over / crank at all but I tried push start and was successful at that.

Power steering fluid is topped out, it functioned very well before all this happened.

People on Mu suggested ignition switch(?).

Any other guesses on what is wrong with it??

PS fluid needs to be in the middle of the dipstick, a full reservoir could be putting too much drain on the system, but if the wheels are pointed forward it should be a non issue.

Make sure your ECU connections are set in tight.

I think it's going to be ignition switch or computer based for it not attempting to crank at all.

Very similar to an issue I had in Dec08 but just different enough I can't put my finger on the cause.

Edit:: Wires to the distributor, that the connection is good at the distributor and that i you follow them down a little they aren't pinched or worn through. (this is a par thats at risk mostly when jacking the engine for pulley installs but it does come close to a few heat shields)

I see. Well, if I were to replace the ignition switch, do I have to do anything with my immobilizer?

Also, about your edited info.. wire distributor? I don't understand what that is  Where do I look for that ??

Thank you

The plug is in the back of where the ignition wires meet.

Not too sure about the immobilizer stuff I've fortunately been able to avoid going down that route.

I had a similar issue but with my volvo

even after a new battery it still would not start

i had a friend jump start my starter directly.

Try it and see if it works good luck:thumbsup:

Well thanks all for suggestions and tips

I found the problem: :::: It was indeed the ignition switch.

I messed around with wiring by reaching underneath the steering wheel column and BAM. it cranked up strong and clean..

Hew :)
