Help! Headlights won't auto-level and can't figure out why!

Merry Christmas! Or, so I thought. After spending the morning withe family opening gifts, I went out to move my car only to find that my headlights refuse to auto-level. It's an '04 Cooper S with no mods of any kind and well taken care of. They were working just fine up til now, so I'm puzzled! Can't seem to find a thread on the subject and searching google has been little help, so any tips/ suggestions/ help would be much appreciated.

I had this "problem" two times when the dealer performed some maintenance/repair and forgot to reconnect the cables that control the leveling mechanism. In your case, the wiring for the load sensors may be just loose. I dont know the exact location of it, but I believe its in the vicinity of the left front wheel (control arms?). I am sure someone will chime in with the specifics.

Good luck!

Turn the wheel to the right all the way and look under the car. You should see a little box with an arm coming off it. There is one right front and one left rear (I believe) that control the auto level.

I had one of my arms break and needed to replace the sensor. It was a pain but I managed to do it with the tire still on.
